IVF Drug Costs
I've just been looking into prices for IVF medication for our forthcoming PGD attempt (No.2). If I'd thought there would be a standard price for the different drugs (fyi this time I'm doing the short protocol rather than the long protocol for No1) , then I was much mistaken. As you can see below, the price variations aren't small, they are HUGE. It's a Moroccan bazaar out there! (numbers green are the cheapest prices and those in red are the most expensive)

ReplyDeleteI have heard it doesn't usually take the first time, either. Hubby wants to do IVF, I want to roll the dice naturally again. Have you ever heard of three TFMR's in a row before? IVF scares the crap out of me.
ReplyDeleteHi. This is really useful, thank you very much. How did you manage to get the prices from Heathcare at Home? My clinic is with them, and with my previous ivf they expected me to pay a large amount over the phone, but they were unable to tell my how much individual things cost. They say they need to speak with the manager and they can only post a detailed invoice, conviently after I have paid. It never came in the mail... This time, a new IVF cycle, yet again they are unable and reluctant to give prices. Same story, same excuses. It does not leave me with confidence. It feels to me that they can make up prices as and when they want because patients won't know. I really want to know how they get to the total. Have been om the phone today and yesterday...
ReplyDeleteThat's very odd. They sent me a spreadsheet. They can't send out any medications without a prescription, but it's totally reasonable to expect to be a shown a breakdown of the drug costs. Is there an email you can contact them on? I spoke to a guy called Jonathan there.
